On February 28, the 91st Academy Awards were shown on ABC. This year was very unique because there was no host for the Oscars. Originally, the host was announced as Kevin Hart, but due to a number of homophobic tweets, he was later found unsuitable to host the event. The last time this happened at the Oscars was in 1989. Despite there not being a host, , this did not have much of an impact on the actual awards show. The show opened with a live performance of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions” by the band Queen and singer Adam Lambert. Comedians Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler started off the night with a funny and light-hearted opening speech acknowledging the lack of a host. Throughout the night different celebrities introduced the best picture nominees alongside their accompanying movie trailers. There were also musical performances by Jennifer Hudson, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, and more.
