Looking for a new study space that isn’t your dorm room? Well, I compiled a list of the
top ten best study spots on Bryn Mawr’s campus for you. Bryn Mawr’s beautiful academic
buildings, cafes and libraries offer aesthetic, quiet and inspirational spaces for you, so that you
can accomplish all of your upcoming to-dos and tasks.
First, the Uncommon Grounds cafe located in the inside of the campus center.
Uncommon is a great place to study in a cozy and social atmosphere. Of course, there is the
extra bonus of buying a sweet treat for yourself, too! The nook in the cafe is lively with couches
and chairs–a great place to get some late-night reading done or cram those extra words in a
paper.
The Campus Center is another great place to study with a social atmosphere! No matter
the time of day, you will always find students reading in armchairs, typing up a paper in the
upstairs tables, or chatting with friends by the pool table. Personally, I find this a great
atmosphere to get a group project done, or find space alone. If you are the person who studies
and completes tasks with the environment of others, this is a great spot to cross off that endless
list of assignments.
The Lusty Cup is Bryn Mawr’s second on-campus cafe. The cafe is always vibrant with
students studying together for upcoming assignments and projects. The menu offers a wide
range of teas and coffees–there will always be something new to try! Open during 8pm-12am,
The Lusty Cup is the perfect spot to get late night studying in with your friends and classmates.
Surprisingly, the ground floor of Park is a great study space. If you’re ready to walk down
the hill and take the trek to park, this study location is just for you. With chalkboards surrounding
every corner, this spot is the best when you need to map out equations for your next project, or
scribble your thoughts down right in front of you. The moveable tables and cozy armchairs allow
for perfect brainstorming for a next essay!
Carpenter Library is connected to the back of the Old Library. The study tables on the B
floor are wonderful. I love typing up a writing assignment, completing a take-home exam, and
getting some late-night reading done. Whenever you decide you need a break, gaze at the
Athena statue above, admire the elegant statues, grab a coloring page, do a crossword, visit the
puzzle room; the possibilities are endless. Carpenter Library’s close proximity to the Old Library
allows for a quick study break after or before classes!
Speaking of the Old Library and Carpenter Library, The Quita Woodward Room is
located in the Old Library, right beside Carpenter’s outdoor entry. Whenever I step foot into The
Quita Woodward Room, I feel like I’m being transported back in time. With bookshelves
spanning the whole room, warm lighting, cozy armchairs, and round tables, this space is perfect
for reading and studying with a beautiful background.
Happy studying!
