Eagles Dominate on Both Sides of the Ball against Giants to improve to 4-2

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Giants 28-3 on Sunday, Oct. 20 for their second consecutive win and their first win by multiple possessions. In his return to Metlife Stadium, Saquon Barkley rushed for 176 yards, including a 55-yard carry and a touchdown. Coach Nick Sirianni crafted up a few nifty formations, such as the classic tush push, which allowed Jalen Hurts to run for two touchdowns. Hurts was 10/14 for 114 yards and 1 touchdown, as well as a 41-yard second quarter touchdown pass to star receiver, AJ Brown, on 4th and 3. This exciting catch extended the lead to 14-0 with 4:27 left in the second quarter.

Barkley was 13 yards away from his single-game high for rushing yards, currently 189, set playing against Washington in 2019. Close to the end, Sirianni offered Barkley extra carries to try to reach the milestone and Barkley responded with, “Nah, let the other guys eat.” Sirianni had been preaching to Barkley not to let the emotions relating to his return and the hate from Giants fans get to him. After the game, Sirianni praised Barkley, “That guy’s selfless, that guy’s a baller, and I can’t say enough good things about him.”

The Eagles’ defense held the Giants to punts on 11 out of 13 drives as the New York offense only gained 119 yards. The Giants reached the red zone once right before halftime, but had a touchdown negated by penalty and played a rather limited offense given the time constraints. They settled for a field goal to make it 14-3 in favor of the Eagles. Quarterback Daniel Jones was replaced by former Denver Bronco Drew Lock with 11 minutes left.

The Eagles trail the Commanders (5-2) by half a game for the lead in the NFC East. The Eagles will play the Bengals next Sunday at 1:00 p.m. and host the Jaguars in Philadelphia on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 4:05 p.m.
