Say It! Poster Design & Graphic Messages, an exhibit highlighting never-before-exhibited historic posters, banners, and pennants along with posters by prominent female activists and artists of color and LGBTQ+ identities, opened in Canaday’s 1912 Gallery on August 28. The exhibit will be open through May 29. Bryn Mawr College Special Collections hosted a reception on Friday, September 12, celebrating the opening of the exciting new exhibit.
Within the exhibit a wide variety of posters, banners, and pennants from various periods and calling attention to different causes, can be found. Posters discussing the climate justice movement to works discussing the anti-government idea that came about through the Olympic spirit are alongside each other creating an appreciation for the importance of art in all forms and subjects of advocacy.
Curator Janelle Rebel has intentionally included a wide variety of posters, banners, and pennants from different time periods, serving different roles in activism, and works from eight countries. The exhibit brings attention to the everyday, artistic, public service messages through different production contexts and strategies.
Say it! Will be open through May 29 Monday through Friday 10:00-4:00. The exhibit can be found in Canaday’s 1912 Gallery located on the first floor of Canaday.
