The Bryn Mawr and Haverford field hockey teams went head-to-head last week, ultimately resulting in a 1-0 win for the Fords. This is the first time the Owls have been beaten by Haverford since 2018, marking the end of their six game winning streak in bi-co competition. This result was a surprising upset, with Haverford remaining unranked this season and Bryn Mawr holding its spot at No. 10 as of October 15.
The game went scoreless for the first three quarters despite a total of eleven penalty corners and twelve shots being taken during that time. During the final five minutes of the match, the Fords were able to draw a crucial penalty corner. After a direct pass from Haverford player Holly Vincent, teammate Rachel Marlin shot and scored the first and only goal of the game. The Owls pushed hard in the final minutes of the game, but were unable to find the cage before time ran out.
If both teams make it to conference playoffs, the bi-co community may have the opportunity to see an exciting rematch this year.
