BRYN MAWR— In an email sent out to students, faculty, and staff of Bryn Mawr College, President Kim Cassidy said she was not willing to negotiate demands with student protesters.
The email was sent at 10:10 Friday morning and was purported to be an “Update on Campus Protest Encampment.” In it, Cassidy stated she was “committed to keeping the channels of communication open” but would “not respond to or negotiate demands.”
Cassidy also stated that administration would “not escalate the situation nor put our staff or students at risk by physically removing the tents immediately, but disciplinary procedures have been launched for student leaders of the encampment.”
Previously, student protestors had been threatened with a Dean’s Panel for continuing chants of “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and “long live the Intifada” after repeated requests from head of Campus Safety Lil Burroughs and Dean Tomiko Jenkins that they refrain from using the controversial slogans.
As of this morning, no reports of student organizers receiving official Dean’s Panel notices have been made.
