Some Weird Things You’ll Wish You Did Over Break

Some Weird Things You’ll Wish You Did Over Break

As a first year, I had some misconceptions about college. 1. That I wouldn’t get tired of the dining hall food (proven wrong within a week), 2. That I would be fine sharing a bathroom with twenty people (why I thought I would like that I have no idea), 3. That I wouldn’t be cold in the winter (Los Angeles winter clothes apparently do not transfer to Pennsylvania).

As Spring Break is almost upon us (or, depending on when you’re reading this, already upon us), here are the weird things I am looking forward to the most that I can’t do when at college. Maybe try a couple of these things out too—you might wish you had done them while you could.

1. Sing super loud in the shower.

Technically I could do this at college, but I wouldn’t want to subject my poor hall mates to that torture.

2. Eat vegetables.

I am not a veggie person at all (I’m more of a hostess cupcakes person if I’m honest), but right now I would kill for a veggie that’s not onions, mushrooms or green beans.

3. Watch TV all day.

I don’t know about you, but I do not have the time to binge TV in college. But Spring Break Me does!

4. Shower without shower-shoes on.

At this point it feels weirder not wearing shoes in the shower

5. Drive a car.

If I still remember how…

What some other deprived Haverfordians and Bryn Mawrtyrs are looking forward to:

“I’m going to cradle my fuzzy mammal like a baby and fiddle with his tummy and snout.” Magdalena Steckler, Haverford ‘27

“I’m excited to go to the beach and go shopping.” Emma Miller, Haverford ‘27

“Leave the library.” Clarissa Smith, Haverford ‘27

“The first thing I am going to do over break is probably pet my dog and take him on a beautiful walk with the nice evergreen trees at home!” Kyra Kulgen, Bryn Mawr ‘26

“Watching movies with my family and spending time with my long distance boyfriend.” Lauren Petrilla, Haverford ‘27

“Sushi.” Nava Mach, Haverford ‘27

On Campus

If you are staying on campus over break, you can still try many of these out! For instance, check to see how many people are staying on your hall. If it’s not too many, you have permission to belt it out in the shower as loud as you want. Or treat yourself to little dinner out! But definitely keep your shower shoes on. Whatever you do, and wherever you are, have a wonderful break. <3
